Why are resale sites STILL selling Taylor Swift tickets?

Taylor Swift tickets ‘could be useless’ if bought from a re-sale site – so, why are the likes of viagogo and Stubhub still listing them for as much as £10,000?

Taylor Swift fans have been left baffled yet again after discovering resale sites such as viagogo and Stubhub are still advertising tickets to the singer’s Eras tour, after Ticketmaster revealed the all tickets are non-transferable.

Fans were left outraged this week when ticketing giant has updated its terms and conditions to make the sell-out tour a ‘lead booker’ event, meaning the person who purchased the tickets has to be present at the venue to get in.

This is likely to deter ticketing touts and resellers, with tickets already on resale sites for up to £10,000.

But this has left many Swifties attending UK gigs in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Cardiff fuming that tickets they’ve bought as gifts for friends or partners will be invalid.

Others have complained that this could mean children who have had tickets bought for them by their parents will not be allowed entry, while those who want to attend but can’t because of sickness may not be able to give tickets away to friends.

Fans have been left further confused however, that tickets are still available from legitimate reselling sites despite the policies.

Others have questioned whether AXS – who were the other official seller of Eras Tour tickets alongside Ticketmaster – will also become a ‘lead booking event’.

Spokespeople for both viagogo and AXS have said they’re waiting for confirmation on the situation, while Ticketmaster told FEMAIL the promoters AEG events decide on the lead booker policy.

‘We are currently reviewing the information distributed by Ticketmaster,’ a spokesperson from viagogo told FEMAIL.

‘In any event, the viagogo guarantee is in place and we will ensure those who have purchased with us get in the door or their money back.

Taylor Swift fans have slammed TicketMaster yet again after discovering tickets they bought for friends and family for the much-anticipated UK Eras Tour may be useless

‘We strongly oppose these anti-consumer tactics employed by primary ticket outlets that limit choice and flexibility for fans.’

FEMAIL has contacted Stubhub and AEG for comment.

Ticketmaster has come under fire for repeatedly changing policies ahead of the highly-anticipated tour.

In the US, Swift herself said she was ‘p***** off’ at the website after bots bought up the majority of tickets.

In the UK, Cardiff MP and ‘father of a Swiftie’ Kevin Brennan said that he was ‘appalled’ to see tickets being advertised within an hour of them going on sale.

‘As a father of a Swiftie, and I know that my honorable friend, the deputy shadow leader of the house, is also the mother of a Swiftie, I was appalled to see that within an hour of tickets going on sale for the Taylor Swift Concert at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, a ticket was on sale in the lower tier for £3,352,’ he said during business questions in the commons.

Fans have been left fuming at the changes, as at the time of the pre-sale Ticketmaster did not list the tour as a ‘lead booker’ event.

At the time of the presale on July 13th, the event was not listed as a ‘lead booker’

However, Ticketmaster later changed the policy to put it as a ‘lead booker event’

‘My friend purchased two VIP tickets for me and a friend for Taylor Swift before no lead booker was needed to attend. Now your website says differently how can this be rectified? I have screenshots showing before you changed your site. This is disgusting,’ one person wrote.

‘Hi @TicketmasterUK what do I do with the tickets I’ve gifted my girlfriend for the Taylor Swift Eras tour. I can’t attend so will she be able to access?

‘Is it a lead booker event? And if so, when did that stipulation change because it wasn’t the case last week. Thanks,’ said another.

‘Why the change on Taylor Swift being a lead booker event? My partner booked tix for my sisters and I and now he has to attend because he can’t transfer the tickets to me? This was not stipulated at the time we booked so will you decide which of my sisters can’t go?’ wrote a third.

‘Ticketmaster making Era’s Tour Lead Booker event so you can’t refund or transfer the tickets is a TERRIBLE move,’ said another.

Experts say the gold rush for Taylor tickets has revealed just how ‘sophisticated bots have become’ and how they are able to use ‘residential proxies’ in the UK to bypass the selling platform’s protective measures. Taylor is pictured in June during her Cincinnati, Ohio show

Now fans are questioning whether they’ll be able to get tickets – albeit at a hugely inflated price – at all.

Tickets with a face value of £45 have been put on sale for £745.

If Ticketmaster sticks with the rule, it will also make all resale tickets invalid.

Tickets to the UK  tour are being resold for up to £10,000 after many fans were left empty-handed following a series of technical glitches.

The tiered general sale for the hotly anticipated Eras Tour began Monday, but AXS and Ticketmaster’s bid to stop bots and scalpers from driving up the price  seemingly failed again.

Tickets to Taylor’s UK shows appeared on platforms like Stubhub and viagogo within minutes of the general sale release, with one lower bowl seat to Blank Space singer’s concert at Wembley Stadium in London next year listed for more than £9,800.

Fans, pointed out how tickets with a face value of £170 were being sold for nearly £3,000, slammed the scalpers and so-called ‘vile’ fans for buying additional tickets and ‘selling them on for profit’.

Seats to Taylor’s European gigs were released in waves – first last week in a presale to fans who had purchased her Midnights album and then in this week’s general sale – in an attempt to prevent online bots from snagging all the tickets.

But experts say the gold rush for Taylor tickets has revealed just how ‘sophisticated bots have become’ and how they are able to use ‘residential proxies’ in the UK to bypass the selling platform’s protective measures.
