Ever since her wedding to Prince William all the way back in 2011, Kate Middleton has been known as the future queen of England. There is no doubt that this is quite an honor. After all, she was a commoner before marrying into the royal family and growing up in a typical family in the Village of Bucklebury in Berkshire, Duchess Kate had no idea that she would one day be married to the future king.
As anyone knows, becoming a queen is a pretty huge role to take on. As the Duchess of Cambridge, Middleton is already living life under the royal microscope. Yet that will become even more intense when her husband takes the throne as king.
It has even been reported that at this early stage, Duchess Kate is already receiving advice on how to handle things when she becomes queen. However, when this day arrives, the British monarchy will be pretty different than it is now. Here is why no amount of training will let the Duchess of Cambridge become the next Queen Elizabeth.
Kate Middleton received training to become a duchess
Marrying into the world’s most famous family is something that is definitely not to be taken lightly. In fact, after becoming engaged to Prince William, Duchess Kate actually had to take intense lessons to learn how to be a duchess.
According to Amo Mama, she had extensive training in which she learned all of the royal rules and protocol, plus a lot more. So, what is duchess training really like?
Well, Duchess Kate had to watch videos of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, as a way of learning how to deal with the relentless photographers that she knew would be hounding her for the rest of her life. She was being prepared as much as possible in order to learn how to handle being in the spotlight, and how to be the best duchess that she possibly could.

🙌 Thank you to The Duchess’s army of little helpers for their help opening The Nook Hospice @eachhospices! The big green button on the plaque is an interactive switch for children to press that plays 🎶 a bird song. While we know that Duchess Kate is a future queen, many people may be left wondering exactly what has to happen for her to take that title. The British line of succession can be difficult to understand.
Right now, Queen Elizabeth sits on the throne as the ruling monarch, and upon her death, or if she chooses to step down, her oldest son, Prince Charles, will become king. When this happens, according to The Sun, Prince William will then be first in line to be king.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also be given the new royal titles of Prince and Princess of Wales. When Prince Charles passes away, Prince William takes over as the ruling monarch. Duchess Kate will also receive an upgrade to her title.

The Duchess of Cambridge joined The Queen and The Duchess of Cornwall on the balcony of the Foreign Office for the National Service of Remembrance, as The Prince of Wales laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of The Queen, who is Head of the Armed Forces, followed by The Duke of Cambridge, The Duke of Sussex, The Duke of York, and Members of the Royal Family. Every year, the nation unites on Remembrance Sunday, traditionally held at 11am on the second Sunday in November, to honour the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community, the British and Commonwealth veterans, the Allies that fought alongside us and the civilian servicemen and women involved in the two World Wars and later conflicts 📷PA / Crown Copyright #WeWillRememberThem
Middleton won’t actually be the queen when Prince William becomes the King of England. Instead, she will be what is known as a queen consort.
What does this mean? A consort is simply someone who is married to the ruling monarch. Given that Duchess Kate is not a direct descendant of Queen Elizabeth, she cannot actually take over the throne as the Queen of England.
Prince William is the one who will actually have a coronation, and he will then be entitled to all of the same privileges that his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, currently is. Duchess Kate’s role will be somewhat different. Although she may be called “Queen Catherine” or even “Queen Kate,” she will not be an official monarch.
Duchess Kate will still carry out royal duties, however, she isn’t set to become the next Queen Elizabeth. And no matter how much prep work she does, she simply cannot fill Queen Elizabeth’s shoes because she won’t be permitted to be queen.
