A woman has flaunted her acne in unedited snaps telling women "don't cancel summer plans because you have a breakout."

Instagram influencer Maia Gray, from London, documents her acne journey online, and often works to expose the reality behind airbrushed social media snaps.

The social media star, who boasts over 105,000 followers on Instagram, spent years covering her face with make-up after cruel bullies made fun of her appearance in school.

Now aged 27, she has accepted her skin and shares amazing pictures that show what it's like to live with acne.

She also uses her platform to try and show other women how important it is to love yourself.

In a recent post she bared her natural skin in the sunshine to normalise acne, and show that it shouldn't stop us from making the most of summer.

While many of us may let skin conditions and blemishes let us down, people like Maia show us that we shouldn't think we have to look perfect all the time.

She said we shouldn't let our skin "dictate" our lives in a bold and defiant post.

Writing on Instagram, Maia said: "This summer make sure you make plans, don’t cancel them because you’re having a breakout.

"Don’t compare your photos online to others.

"Don’t let your skin dictate the places you want to got to, the people you want to see or the clothes you want to wear.

"Acne does not change a single thing about you.

"You are stunning. You are strong and you are worth it.

"This is your sign to enjoy the rest of your summer (but don’t forget SPF, bestie!)"

Since sharing the pictures with her followers, many people have thanked Maia for being so honest.

Maia has been dubbed as "beautiful", and many people have thanked her for being her authentic self.

One person said: "The gentle but effective reminder we need."

A second commented: "Really love this. By the way – you're gorgeous."

A third also added: "Being natural is cute."
