While making YouTube videos was once simply seen as a bit of fun, many people have managed to turn the practice into a full-time career.
Now, a new survey has revealed that a career as a YouTuber could earn you big bucks.
The survey, by UNiDAYS, found that aspiring YouTubers expect to earn more than Investment Bankers in the first year of work.
Around 2,000 undergraduate students were surveyed about their salary expectations once they graduate.
Results revealed that aspiring YouTubers expect to earn £55,000 in their first year of work.
That’s significantly more than prospective investment bankers (£25,600), engineers (£36,600) and even medics (£25,900).
It’s also more than the national average wage, which is currently £28,600.
The results also revealed that two-thirds of students expect to have secured a job within three months of leaving university.
And surprisingly, more than half expect to earn at least £30,000 within three years of graduating.
Mai Fenton, Vice President of Marketing at UNiDAYS said: “The alluring lives of YouTubers and Influencers are constantly on display on social media, so it’s no surprise that students who want to follow that career path have higher salary expectations than those seeking traditionally high-paying roles that require years of rigorous study.”
