New research has confirmed what many of us already suspected: Facebook is for old people and the cool kids use TikTok.
The percent of American teens aged between 13 and 17 who say they use Facebook has plummeted from 71% in 2014-15 to just 32% this year, according to the Pew Research Centre.
Meanwhile, the use of TikTok has skyrocketed with 67% of teens saying they use it—and a further 16% saying they use it 'constantly'.

The number of teens using Twitter and Tumblr is also falling, with a growing share of them using Instagram and Snapchat instead.
The report said: "Although today's teens do not use Facebook as extensively as teens in previous years, the platform still enjoys widespread usage among adults."
It seems that image and video-based social media sites are the most popular among young people, whereas older generations including millennials prefer using their words the old-fashioned way.
95% of teens said they use YouTube, making it by far the most popular platform as three-quarters of them say they use it on a daily basis.

The survey also discovered that 95% of teens have access to smartphones and 90% use computers. Boys are more likely to use YouTube, Twitch and Reddit while girls use TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat.
Meanwhile, the largest Facebook demographic is men aged between 25 and 34, with the platform also being the most popular social network for 'baby boomers'.
That's probably because it offers ample opportunity for retirees to argue over pointless things in comments threads, read Flat Earth conspiracies, or look at 5-year-old memes for the first time round.
