The people who work for Google Maps have a pretty arduous task, mapping out all the streets of the world.
But while their job is serious and time-consuming, that doesn’t mean they can’t have a little fun with it – after all Google is considered one of the best places to work.
So the Google Maps technicians sometimes like to add little Easter eggs into their work – such as a recent photo of a couple caught in a rather compromising position on a beach.
And that’s not all.
One of the best examples of Google staff messing about with Maps can be seen on Street View at the Google office in Lenoir, North Carolina.
Users can take a sneak peek inside the American offices where they’ll find several very bizarre things if they look closely enough – including some super top secret plans.
On one of the computers in the building, the screen appears to accidentally reveal a Super Secret Strategic Pue Plan (Power Usage Effectiveness).
Underneath the headline is a very sad looking graph showing an alarming decline.
The computer appears to have been left on by an employee by accident – but if you continue to explore the building you’ll realise that’s probably not the case as there are several more funny sights to be seen, suggesting the person with the camera knew exactly what they were doing.
As well as the top secret plans, the office is home to an android mascot in a cage, a Storm Trooper guarding servers, an employee Rickrolling on his computer and a person dressed up as the old Google navigational guy.
Google Maps is the go-to navigational app for thousands of people around the world, and many of them will also use street view, which as the name suggests shows you what a street looks like.
Street View snaps pics of different places which are then stitched together to create a 360 degree picture of the world that we can click to explore.
But sometimes it doesn’t quite get it right.
Google Street View gaffs
The pictures can be blurred or distorted, or something can move in front of one, leading people to believe they’ve seen something paranormal.
For instance there have been several cases of people claiming to see ‘ghosts’ and ‘ mutants ‘ on Street View.
