It’s one of the most popular video game franchises around, and now it seems that Grand Theft Auto could be set for a huge update.
Take-Two Interactive, which owns GTA developer Rockstar Games, is holding a call with investors on February 6, where it could share news about the game.
Rumours suggest that Rockstar Games is working on Grand Theft Auto 6, although the developer is yet to confirm the game.
Take-Two Interactive said: “Take-Two Interactive today announced that it plans to report financial results for the third quarter of its fiscal year 2020, ended December 31, 2019, after the market close on Thursday, February 6, 2020.”
While it's unlikely that Take-Two Interactive will go into any great detail about what it has planned for GTA, they could announce new updates planned for 2020.
This could give us a rough idea of whether or not GTA 6 is in the pipeline for this year.
However, if previous Take-Two Interactive calls are anything to by, things aren’t looking great.
Back in 2009, Strauss Zelnick, CEO at Take-Two Interactive, rather aggressively avoided talking about GTA.
When asked when the next GTA game could launch, he said: "We're not going to announce it. We're not going to announce when we're going to announce it.
“And we're not going to announce the strategy about announcing it or about when we're going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy. Any other questions?”
We’ll have to wait and see if Mr Zelnick is feeling more obliging during the call next week.
