Sky announced plans to put up prices for millions of TV customers, although there a few key exceptions. The increase doesn’t come into force until April 1, however, Sky has started writing to customers to confirm exactly how much extra they’ll need to pay in their upcoming bills.

These alerts have begun arriving through letterboxes and in inboxes across the country and break down all the additional fees and when the changes will come into force. Express.co.uk has seen an example of the correspondence from Sky, which reads, “At Sky, it’s important to us that we bring you unmissable entertainment, the most innovative products and award-winning services for you to enjoy 365 days a year.

“So that we can continue to give you the best experience possible, we do occasionally need to review our pricing.”

How much more each customer pays depends on what services you subscribe to. According to Sky, most customers will see an increase of around £3 a month, roughly £36 a year.

Some will end up paying as much as £6 extra, or £72 a year, but this is thought to only affect around eight percent of Sky customers.

The price increases are quite complicated, hence why Sky is emailing customers individually. Price hikes will differ depending on the deal you have, when you signed up to Sky, or whether you have a special offer or discount applied to your account.


The entry-level Sky Signature telly bundle increases from £25 to £26 a month. The Multiscreen add-on, which lets you watch Sky in multiple rooms around your home, will rise from £14 to £15 a month

The High Definition add-on, which adds HD and UHD streaming and channels, increases from £6 to £7 a month.

Sky Ultimate bundle, which includes a subscription to Netflix and on-demand Sky Boxsets, rises from £4 to £5 a month

BT Sport add-on will increase from £25 to £27 a month

Sky Broadband Essential (speeds of 11Mbps) increases from £22 to £25 a month

Sky Broadband Superfast (speeds of 59Mbps) increases from £27 to £28 a month

Sky Home Phone Price Rises in April 2021

Sky Talk Anytime Extra rises from £10 to £12 a month

Sky Talk International Extra rises from £12 to £14 a month

We know price increases are never welcome and we try to keep prices down whilst still delivering the content our customers love, the flexibility to choose the package that suits them and with leading customer service.”
