If you've ever sent something by accident, you'll know what a godsend being able to edit or unsend texts on platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger can be.
It's proved so popular, in fact, that Apple introduced the feature to iMessage with its recent iOS 16 update.
That means you now have access to a hidden menu on iMessage which gives you much more control over what you send.

It not only lets you 'undo send' or 'edit' your texts, but also lets you reply to specific messages from friends or even translate them if they're in a different language.
To edit a text on iPhone's iMessage, or to use any of the other options, all you have to do is press and hold down on any message.
This will bring up the menu and give the opportunity to edit or unsend it.
It's important to note that you only have a time limit of 15 minutes to make any changes to your messages. After that point, the option will run out.
Your contacts will also be notified if you've edited a text, although unlike Facebook, they won't be able to see what changes you've made one you've made them.

You need to install the iOS 16 update for the feature to be activated.
To do this, just tap the Settings app icon on your iPhone home screen then go to General > Software Update.
Make sure your phone is plugged in and backup any important files before you begin installing the update.
The most recent version of iOS 16 is iOS 16.2. As well as introducing the text editing feature, it also brings a lot of important new security updates. So, make sure it's installed to protect your data from hackers.
