Grabbing a lick on a lolly will be a little easier this bank holiday weekend.
A fleet of ice cream vans have been fitted with the latest tech, to help hungry punters quickly find a frozen snack.
Using your smartphone you can view the position of the tasty trucks in real-time via an interactive map.
The idea was hatched by Guilford-based company Tony Fresko Ltd, which operates a fleet of 19 ice cream vans across the region.
And with a helping hand from mobile firm O2, the concept is now fully functional.
Ice cream boss, Andy Newland, said, “I’m proud to say we have the most high-tech ice cream fleet in the UK.
“The ice cream van tracker is great for customers as they can now come to me rather than the other way around.
“But it also means that I can see where my fleet of vans are at any one time, so I can make sure we’re covering a decent area and I get the reassurance that everything is working well.”
The idea is being tested throughout August, and if successful, vans across the country could be fitted with the tech.
Having tested the Ice Cream Tracker app this week we can report it really does work.
The only thing it's missing are the annoying tunes that blast down your street from a standard van.
On second thoughts, maybe that's not such a bad thing.
