If you’ve ever wanted to change your Netflix profile picture to your favourite TV show character, now you can.
Streaming service Netflix is revamping its profiles so that subscribers can choose their own avatar from a wide selection of Netflix-based TV characters, for a more personalised feel.
The list of characters on offer includes superheros Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, Steve from Stranger Things, Johnathan from Queer Eye and Crazy Eyes from Orange is The New Black.
Users will be able to choose from over 100 new profile icons, which will be rolling out across the firm’s website, mobile apps and TV apps in the coming weeks.
Netflix first launched the profiles feature five years ago, letting multiple users use the same Netflix account, but with their own personalised recommendations and watch lists.
Every time a user watches something on the streaming service, Netflix’s algorithms get to work on pinpointing recommendations that the viewer might like, based on what they’ve already watched.
Netflix first launched the profiles feature five years ago in order to improve the recommendations that it offers for users.
Each account can add up to five different user profiles, allowing different people living under the same roof to have their own personalised profile.
Alternatively, users can create separate profiles for different moods.
"We know the series and movies on Netflix are more than just things you watch to pass the time," said Netflix in a statement.
"The stories — and the characters in them —are also your heroes, frenemies, soulmates and everything in between.
"We’re thrilled to give you a way to show your fandom and make your connection with Netflix more unique".
The basic profile icons that Netflix currently offers are also getting a makeover so viewers will be able stick to an updated version of the smiley face if they don’t want to switch to a Netflix TV character.
