‘Old’ games console could be even harder to get than the PS5 this Black Friday

The last two years have seen a mad rush for games consoles around Black Friday, as gamers hunt down the best bargains possible.

With the PS5 and Xbox Series X becoming more and more available, you'd think these would be the dominant consoles this year.

However, one surprise contender is set to be the most popular console once again this year: the Nintendo Switch.

Despite being released almost six years ago back in March 2017, Nintendo's ageing hybrid portable console is still the king among gamers, beating back its next-gen competitors.

According to online gaming experts Slotsia, the Nintendo Switch is receiving a whopping 244% more searches on Google than the Playstation 5 and 132% more than the Xbox Series X.

This is despite the fact that the Playstation 5 recently became the bestselling console in the UK following increased availability.

A spokesperson for Slotsia said: “Black Friday is one of the most profitable times of the year for console manufacturers. With new game releases this month, we will see if these trends continue and translate into sales ahead of the holiday season.

"To see the Nintendo Switch retaining its popularity despite being five years old is impressive and it will be interesting to see if this trend continues or if Sony or Microsoft can overtake Nintendo.”
