A YouTuber has built and launched his own reusable model rocket inspired by Elon Musk's SpaceX.
Joe Barnard, the man behind model rocket firm BPS Space, has finally completed a project seven years in the making and says he 'learned a lot'.
He started the project in October 2015 by setting out to build a reusable rocket similar to those used by SpaceX.

Joe said he did this "not because it's revolutionary or gamechanging for model rocketry, but because it's a really cool project and I knew I would learn a lot."
In a video, Joe shared footage of his journey to build the rocket, from countless crashes to many near-successes.
He added: "I started by failing, and failing, and failing, and then burning out, and then failing more, and then burning out again.
"But slowly, over time, you can see the reliability of these flights just inch up tick-by-tick."
Joe's fans were astounded by his project. One Youtuber said: "The fact that this guy looks like Elon Musk amazes me more than this rocket landing!"

Another wrote: "This is literally rocket science guys this is amazing!! This shows you can do anything if you put your heart and soul into it."
One user, Curious Droid, even called Joe 'a one man mini SpaceX'.
Reusable rockets made by the likes of SpaceX and Blue Origin have played a key role in the current space race by making space launches much cheaper and more sustainable than before.
Joe's project demonstrates though that you don't need to be a billionaire to build amazing technology.
