The US Space Force has issued an intergalactic taunt to the UK armed forces—by launching a Call of Duty trophy into orbit.
Space Force are the current reigning champions of the Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) esports competition, which sees different branches of the US and UK military compete in Warzone 2.0.
As winners of last year's tournament, Space Force has sent their trophy into outer space and challenged their rivals to 'come and get it!' ahead of this year's competition in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The C.O.D.E. Bowl tournament is designed to raise funds to get 110,000 military veterans into employment, with 100% of proceeds going to charity.

PR stunts aside, the tournament is being held just days after reports emerged that the U.S. Army allegedly planned to offer millions of dollars to Call of Duty streamers to recruit gamers and young people into the military.
According to internal Army documents acquired by Motherboard, the US Army put aside millions of dollars to sponsor esports tournaments to grow its audience with Gen-Z viewers.
However, the Army reportedly halted all spending with Call of Duty publisher Activision-Blizzard once the company faced a wave of complaints about sexual harassment and inappropriate workplace behaviour.
