Samsung might be one of the most popular smartphone makers on the planet but Google clearly wants to make a dent in its sales. The US technology giant has just announced the launch of its new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones which get a faster Tensor processor, improved photography thanks to a Macro Mode and longer battery life.

That all sounds impressive but to make buying one of these devices seem even more attractive, Google has announced a pre-order deal which gives anyone buying the Pixel 7 Pro the chance to bag a new Pixel Watch for free.
Considering this wearable has only just been launched and costs £349 to buy on its own this is definitely a very enticing deal.
For those that might not have seen Google’s announcement last week, the Pixel Watch features a 41mm circular AMOLED display, 24-hour battery life and activity tracking that’s powered by Fitbit. That means it can check how much exercise you are getting and motivate you to do more.
Like most wearables, the Pixel Watch also brings text messages, phone calls, WhatsApp notifications, calendar appointments, turn-by-turn directions from Google Maps, and contactless payments to your wrist. It can also track your sleep, heart rate, oxygen levels and monthly cycle.
If that nice freebie has got you thinking about an upgrade then, on paper, it looks like the Pixel 7 Pro should definitely impress.
This device includes Google’s new Tensor G2 processor which is now faster, more efficient and smarter with the device able to turn spoken words into editable copy and even listen to a voice message and show it on the screen as readable text.
There’s also an improved triple rear camera on the rear case that now shoots better close-ups thanks to a new Macro Mode and there’s a Super Res Zoom which Google says takes stunning pictures even from a distance.
This snapper also gets a Hollywood-style Cinematic Mode which adds a bit of glamour to your home movies. Other features worth mentioning include a 6.7-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate for fast and smooth scrolling.
This panel is also covered in tough Gorilla Glass which will help it survive should it slip through your fingers.
The Pixel 7 Pro is available in three colours including Obsidian, Snow and Hazel. Prices start from £849.
If that sounds way too expensive, don’t panic. Google is also offering a free gift when buying its cheaper Pixel 7.
This device still features the new Tensor processor, updated design and some of the clever camera features found in its more expensive sibling.
Prices for the Pixel 7 starts from £599.
