Sky customers were warned back in February that bills were set to rise this year. And now, that increase is just days away. Bills will rise from April 1 with some Sky Q viewers now facing a hike of up to £72 per year. Thankfully, not everyone will be hit by the £72 a year increase. Sky works out how much extra you’ll need to pay based on the services you subscribe to, when you took out your contract, and more.
According to Sky, most customers will see costs going up by around £3 a month, roughly £36 a year. The pricing structure is pretty complicated, but Express.co.uk has rounded up all the changes and you can view them here.
Speaking about the hike a spokesperson for Sky told Express.co.uk, “We appreciate the importance of keeping our customers informed, connected and entertained. We know price increases are never welcome and we try to keep prices down whilst still delivering the content our customers love, the flexibility to choose the package that suits them and with leading customer service.”
Sky Q explain simple way to navigate the home screen
If the incoming price rise has you reconsidering your Sky Q contract, then don’t forget that Sky actually offers another – much more flexible – way of tuning into its exclusive movies, boxsets and sports content.
The satellite TV firm’s NOW TV service lets you stream content, such as Sky Sports, Entertainment and Sky Cinema, straight to your television without the need for a dish stuck to your wall.
Of course, NOW TV isn’t anything new but it has just had a big revamp with a new look and name. Simply called NOW, it still offers all the usual ways of watching via the internet but to celebrate the rebranding there are some pretty cheap prices for tuning into your favourite shows.
NOW is offering two deals which include Entertainment, Cinema and Sky Sports. The first bundle features one month of Entertainment and Cinema channels for just £14.99 – that’s a saving of £9.99 off the usual price.
This deal also features access to the NOW Boost service which brings 4K quality to your telly and the option to watch on three devices at the same time. If it’s sporting action that you want then NOW’s second deal is offering six months of Sky Sports for £25 per month. This pass usually costs £33.99 per month so there’s a decent saving to be made. Again this comes with a 7-day free trial of Boost.
Speaking about the rebranding Marina Storti, Managing Director at NOW, said: “NOW has always been the home of quality entertainment and our new brand evolution ensures that, even in a hectic world, no one misses out on the entertainment they love. By moving from NOW TV to NOW, we marry our world-class quality with brilliant simplicity. This immediacy creates a true destination and community for those who love and live for the best entertainment.”
