A Place in the Sun's Jean Johansson left grinding her teeth by buyer's brutal response to property | The Sun

A PLACE in the Sun host Jean Johansson was visibly taken aback during an episode of the hit property show following some harsh criticism.

TV host Jean admitted she was not expecting such a strong ‘negative’ reaction.

Home searcher Currina paired up with best friend Tracey in order to look for her dream home on Spain’s northern Costa Callida in the Channel 4 show.

With the small budget of £65,000, Currina had an extensive list of requirements that Jean needed to find in order to set her eyes upon the perfect property.

She was requesting either an apartment or a townhouse that was a minimum of two bedrooms and also had a balcony.

She was also aiming to find a place with a pool and that was not too far away from the beach.

As Jean showed the picky pair around the first two homes, it was clear they were not in the mood and were left feeling underwhelmed by the choices they had been shown.

But it wasn’t until the third property that Currina’s best pal Tracey really showed her true feelings as she let Jean know exactly how she felt about the properties she had found for them.

The modern looking apartment left Tracey without words as Jean said:  "Oh no, Tracey's gone quiet."

A stern Tracey remarked: "I really hate it. I don't like it at all.

Jean was left taken aback by Tracey’s shock outburst as she raised her hands to cover her mouth in disbelief.

An undeterred Jean said to Tracey: "Hate is a strong word."

However Tracey remained defiant as she argued back: "I could not live here. I couldn't even stay for a short period, I don't think. It's soulless."

Jean spoke to the camera as she revealed she had high hopes that Currina would love the property as she reflected on the incident, saying: "I thought Currina was going to love this.

"This puts me under pressure as to where to take you next. I was not expecting that."

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
