A Place in the Sun did not go smoothly for presenter Scarlette Douglas when she was tasked with finding Karen and Paul a holiday home in southern Spain.
In today's episode of the Channel 4 show (April 20) Scarlette showed the couple, from Dundee in Scotland, five different properties within their budget of £145,000 on the Mijas Costa.
Unfortunately, the couple were lukewarm about the first three properties Scarlette showed them even though they were fairly spacious and had what they wanted on paper, including communal pools and stunning views.
Scarlette eventually scored a hit with property number four – an apartment in Calahonda with its own covered terrace and panoramic views.
The property, valued at £136,000 at the time of filming, also had communal gated parking, hot and cold air-conditioning, double glazed windows, and an open-plan kitchen.
Finally, Scarlette showed them a luxury penthouse apartment with terraces, an ensuite bathroom, and a swimming pool.
The catch was it was on the market for £158,000 and would need some negotiating.
But Karen and Paul didn't even think it worth looking around.
"I have to say, I’m not sold at all," Paul said while looking around the final apartment.

He continued: "Property four is nicer than this. It’s not doing it for me at all. I don’t like it."
"I thought for the budget, I was going to be wowed," said a disappointed Karen.
Scarlette appeared to sense trouble and asked if they wanted to continue looking around the property.
"Do you want to have a look around or are you done?" she said.

Paul gave a blunt: "No."
"You're done?" Scarlette replied in shock.
Karen said: "I would have had a look around. But there's no point."
Paul and Karen then submitted an offer on property number four – but it was dramatically lower than the asking price and the seller refused.
The couple returned to Dundee empty-handed but returned a month later and successfully bought an apartment.
