Aadi bewildered as Dev angrily rants about ASS in Coronation Street

Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) seems determined to follow in his businessman father’s footsteps, though recent Coronation Street scenes proved that he may still have work to do.

When Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) emerged from the store room of the shop, he instantly began criticising his shopkeeper son, who apparently wasn’t pulling the right facial expression.

He urged Aadi to remember ASS, which left Aadi understandably confused.

When Dev revealed that ASS had helped to build his business, Aadi asked him to consider what that sounded like, but Dev wouldn’t be dissuaded.

He thankfully soon pointed out that ASS actually stood for ‘a smile sells’, and encouraged Aadi to try it out himself.

Despite complaining that he wanted actual business experience, Aadi took his advice and painted on a smile for his next customers, instantly dropping it as he realised it was his sister and friends walking through the door.

When Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) asked why he was behind the counter, Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) stated that he was covering Evelyn Plummer’s (Maureen Lipman) shifts.

Aadi instantly complained that he was a proper businessman and, because he has ‘one of Britain’s finest untapped business minds’, is wasted behind the counter at Dev’s shop.

Later, when Asha returned to the shop in search of a chocolate bar, she found Aadi pricing up cans of food completely wrong.

As she pointed out that they were 15p more expensive than he’d marked them, he complained that he didn’t know what was wrong with him.

Asha pointed out that it may have something to do with the fact that he’s in love with Amy, which, after some pushing, Aadi finally admitted to.

When Dev emerged from the store room once more, suspicious that the twins were in the same room and not fighting, Asha left with her chocolate bar in hand.

It wasn’t long before Dev noticed Aadi’s pricing, and began to freak out over the fact that his children were determined to bankrupt him.

Does Aadi really have what it takes to follow in his dad’s footsteps, or is Dev’s ASS policy too much to manage?
