ALEC Baldwin’s wife Hilaria’s Mom Brain podcast has been canceled, as the family mourns the accidental shooting death on the actor’s film set.
Hilaria, 37, and Daphne Oz’s podcast, Mom Brain, hasn’t aired since December 2020 when fans accused the mom of six of faking her Spanish accent in interviews and lying about details of her upbringing.
The Sun can exclusively reveal the trademark for Mom Brain is no longer active as of June 2, 2021.
The reason for the “dead” status is because Vaynerstudios, LLC and The Gallery Media Group “abandoned” the trademark.
Trademark paperwork obtained by The Sun states the office “did not receive a response to the previous Office action within the six-month response period.”
Hilaria has also removed Mom Brain from her Instagram bio.
The last episode aired on December 23, 2020, with fans asking about the status of the podcast.
One listener wrote on Apple Podcasts: “Miss you guys. When are you coming back with new episodes?”
Another commented: “Love the show. When is it coming back?”
A third said: “I am missing both Daphne and Hilaria, please come back! I enjoy your topic and conversions and as an American living abroad, I feel at home listening to my ‘friends.’”
A fourth fan wrote: “I miss Mom Brain! Come back ladies!”
Mom Brain and The Gallery Media Group did not respond to The Sun’s request for comment.
CULTURAL APPROPRIATION SCANDAL
The cultural appropriation scandal started when a Twitter user posted a clip from an April 2020 podcast where Hilaria said: “I moved here when I was 19 to go to NYU. My family lives in Spain.”
Her Creative Artists Agency profile also claimed she was born in Mallorca, Spain, where her parents now live. The agency then removed her "birth place" from the bio.
Hilaria later admitted to being born in Boston, as the Cambridge School of Weston School in Massachusetts lists her as an alum and alleged classmates came forward to claim they attended high school with Hilaria, whose birth name is Hillary Hayward-Thomas.
One Twitter user posted a video of Hilaria speaking in a Spanish accent on Good Morning America after she married Alec in 2012.
In a separate video from the TODAY show, Hilaria said during a cooking segment in a Spanish accent: “We have very few ingredients. We have tomatoes, we have, um, how do you say in English? Cucumbers.”
Twitter users then posted other videos of Hilaria without a Spanish accent.
Hilaria posted a video on Instagram to defend herself against the claims at the time.
She said, despite previous claims that she was born in Spain and moved to America when she was 19 for college: “I was born in Boston. I’ve spent some of my childhood in Boston, some of my childhood in Spain. My family, my brother, my parents, my nephew, everyone is over there in Spain now. I’m here. There was a lot of back and forth my entire life.”
She continued of her on-and-off Spanish accent: “I’m really lucky that I grew up speaking two languages. I am that person that if I’ve been speaking a lot of Spanish I tend to mix them. If I’m speaking more English then I mix that. It’s one of those things I’ve been a little insecure about… If I get nervous or upset I start to mix the two.”
As for her name, Hillary Hayward-Thomas, she said: "When I was growing up in this country I would use the name Hillary and in Spain I use Hilaria. It always bothered me that neither name sounded good in the other language. I would use one or the other one. A hand full of years before I met Alec, I decided to consolidate the two. So many documents had so many different things.
"I identified more with Hilaria because that’s what my family calls me. It means happy in all languages. We can all be clear, it’s the same just a few letters different so we shouldn’t be upset about it.
“Yes I am a white girl. Let’s be very clear Europe has a lot of white people in there. My family is white. Ethnically I’m a mix of many things. It’s really as simple as that. That’s who I am. I’m really, really proud of who I am.”
The podcast cancellation also comes amid her husband Alec, 63, accidentally shooting and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during filming for Rust in New Mexico.
The misfire also injured director Joel Souza, who was taken to the hospital and released a few hours later.
The day after the shooting, Alec broke his silence, saying in a statement: "There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.
"I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.
"My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
Alec was interviewed by cops following the accident and was snapped sobbing outside a local police station in Santa Fe, New Mexico, pictures from the scene showed.
One photo showed the star distressed while talking on the phone, as another snapped him close to the curb with his hands on his knees.
Hilaria posted on her Instagram page of the devastating incident: "My heart is with Halyna. Her husband. Her son. Their family and loved ones. And my Alec.
"It's said, 'there are no words' because it's impossible to express the shock and heartache of such a tragic accident. Heartbreak. Loss. Support.”
