It's alright, everyone – EastEnders hasn't forgotten about Abi Branning's baby after all

As the fallout from Max Branning’s return and surprise marriage to Rainie Cross continues, tonight’s EastEnders episode aired a welcome twist in the storyline as Abi Branning’s baby girl was finally mentioned on screen again.

With a lot of Thursday’s (April 25) episode being taken up by the baby Harley being taken away by his unstable biological parents storyline, Max (Jake Wood) started to prove his worth to the residents of Albert Square by orchestrating Harley’s safe return.

And, with all these links between Max Branning and babies, it wasn’t long before viewers started questioning where Max’s actual granddaughter was.

Fans will know that Abi Branning’s baby was born prematurely in the aftermath of Abi’s fatal accident at Christmas, meaning there has been speculation over who would raise her in the future.

Baby Abi has been in hospital since she was born, which means viewers haven’t seen much of her on screen, but tonight Max changed that in a big way when he revealed his plan for him and Rainie to raise the baby girl together.

But, for the fans, it was more a relief to know that the soap hasn’t actually forgotten about the baby after all:

Phew. So, now that baby Abi has been acknowledged again and found herself at the centre of a new storyline, it’s time to start speculating about how this is going to play out.

After all, any plan involving Max, Rainie and a custody battle is never going to end well, is it?

EastEnders continues tomorrow night (April 27) at 8pm on BBC One.
