Ant McPartlin has returned to TV screens for the first time since pleading guilty to drink-driving.
The popular Geordie presenter featured heavily in tonight’s pre-recorded episode of Britain’s Got Talent, which was filmed in January just months before his drink-drive disgrace.
Troubled Ant, 42, told a court on Monday he was ‘ashamed and mortified’ by a three-car crash that left a four-year-old girl in hospital.
The troubled star, who appeared gaunt and strained as he arrived at Wimbledon Magistrates Court to answer the single charge, looked drastically different during the audition stages.
The second episode of the new series of BGT opened with Ant in very high spirits as he welcomed the audience to the auditions.
Grabbing hold of a microphone, Ant shouted: "Welcome to Britain’s Got Talent everybody."
There was a large smile across his face as the delighted crowd cheered to show their excitement.
Ant reached out one of his arms to gesture towards his best friend and co-host Dec Donnelly, who then introduced the judges.
There was a joyous mood as Simon Cowell, Amanda Holde, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams made a grand entrance.
The judges were seen clapping and dancing as they made their way to their judging desk, while Ant and Dec retreated to the sidelines.
Despite stepping down from all TV commitments, Ant will continue to appear on pre-recorded segments of the show.
However, his pal Dec will be flying solo during the week of live shows for the semis and the final.
*Britain’s Got Talent airs on Saturdays on ITV at 8pm
