Giovanni Pernice calls mum on trip to Sicily with Anton Du Beke
During their three-part BBC series, Giovanni Pernice took Anton du Beke to Sicily to visit the town where he grew up and to meet his family. Giovanni’s Strictly Come Dancing partner Rose Ayling- Ellis also surprised the duo on their trip. However, speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other press, Anton admitted they had to cut a lot of scenes from the final cut
The Strictly judge began: “There is much you haven’t seen that we shot.
“I mean, we shot so much, we shot a load of days and they were like, ‘That is day one over’.
“The amount of stuff that we were unable to use…but it was brilliant.
“It was so brilliantly put together by the incredible team and I can’t tell you how lovely that is.”
Throughout the series, Anton and Giovanni tried their hand at various activities as they took it in turns to drive around Sicily.
When discussing their show highlights, Giovanni admitted making Anton feel “uncomfortable” was the best part for him.
“I think the funniest moment was actually the moments when we were chilled and we had a normal conversation because with Anton you laugh all the time,” Giovanni shared.
“There were no adult moments really.
“We did so many things where Anton was uncomfortable and when I see Anton uncomfortable it makes me laugh a lot.”
Anton went on to add: “Paddleboarding for me was a high and a low.
“Everybody says about [having] balance when you’re a dancer, but with paddleboarding, it doesn’t apply.”
During the third instalment, which will air tonight, Giovanni and Anton will be joined by EastEnders actress Rose.

The trio will take a lesson in pasta-making where Rose and Anton uncover the secrets of one of Italy’s famous exports.
Then, before the boys head for a morning of golf, Rose is treated to a spectacular synchronized swimming show with Anton and Giovanni performing.
As their trip draws to a close, the pair will head to Palermo, Giovanni’s hometown, where Anton meets his pal’s parents and unveils a surprise birthday present.
Giovanni was thrilled to see his former Strictly partner again while filming the show, admitting: “Rose is so fun.”
Anton added: “She’s so funny, Rose and she has a really dry sense of humour and it was lovely.
“In Strictly Come Dancing you form a good relationship with your partner, it is unique.
“So when Rose turned up, it was lovely to see.”
Anton and Giovanni’s Adventures in Sicily airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
