Bad Boys TV spin-off could still happen after NBC axed it

The Bad Boys TV spin-off LA’s Finest may still have life after all, following the news that NBC would not be going ahead with the project.

The show – a female take on the Bad Boys franchise starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union – was only at the pilot stage before it was axed.

Deadline now reports that the show’s producer, Sony Pictures TV, is in talks with Charter Communications to pick up the show, though they are very much in the preliminary stages.

It had been reported that the show was shopping around following the axe by NBC, and if picked up by Charter would be a major boost for the network in the scripted series area.

LA’s Finest sees Union reprise her role as Special Agent Syd Burnett from 2003’s Bad Boys II as she joins the LAPD in Los Angeles.

There she is partnered with working mother Nancy McKenna (Alba), though their different lifestyles and approaches drive the action in the show.

As for the movie side of things, it looks like Bad Boys 3 – AKA Bad Boys For Life – is back on after it was revealed earlier this year that the movie is lining up directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

Original stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are also attached to return, with Chris Bremner writing the most recent draft of the script.
