Great British Bake Off: Amos is eliminated
Great British Bake Off fans were left fuming and took to social media to issue the same complaint minutes into the new series.
On Tuesday night’s instalment, the 12 bakers had to get creative and put their skills to the test for Cake Week.
And while Dan was named Star Baker, 43-year-old Amos from North London was the first contestant to be sent packing.
Noel Fielding was also back to front the programme with his new sidekick Alison Hammond, while Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith returned to judge the contestant’s sweet treats.
The show kicked off with the bakers being challenged to produce the perfect vertical layer cake.

They then had to take on their first technical task before making a sponge showstopper that featured a menagerie of animals.
However, just minutes into the programme, one fan questioned why the first episode was an hour and a half long, while others picked fault with the number of advert breaks.
@djarinknight asked: “I’m sorry but why is one episode of Bake Off 1 hour and a half long ?? It never used to be.” (sic)
@RainbowAnne1 replied: “It’s so they can fit in the hour’s worth of adverts.#GBBO.”

@doire_audrey echoed: “Ad breaks driving me mad #GBBO.”
“It is criminal that they put an ad break after less than 5 minutes of them judging the technical #GBBO,” Carysb1d complained.
@Tre_Animation fumed: “Uh, excuse me. we JUST HAD AN AD BREAK! #GBBO.”
@MatthewMitt6 asked: “Why is #GBBO on for an hour and a half surely they cram all the nonsense into a hour like?” (sic)
“My annual complaint that #GBBO should not be 90 minutes long!!” @elimchick stated.
When speaking about his time on the show after being voted off, Amos shared: “It was obviously the Showstopper that stopped my show.
“As soon as I heard my name I came out of my body. It has been amazing being in that group of people walking into the tent on the first day, and that is softening the blow a little bit.”
Recalling his favourite task, the budding baker went on: “My favourite challenge overall has to be the technical challenge funnily enough as I thought that would be my worst…
“And my worst challenge was the Showstopper – need I say more?”
He added: “One of the funniest moments in the tent was Alison thinking my Apple buttercream was champagne-flavoured.
“Honestly, it was such a pleasure meeting Noel and Alison and she gave us all such a warm welcome and even gave us some treats to eat during our downtime…legendary.”
Great British Bake Off returns on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
