On Sunday Morning, BBC Breakfast returned to screens with a fresh look as the news programme was presented by Rachel Burden and Victoria Fritz. However, viewers were distracted as they took to Twitter to complain about their outfit choices.
As viewers tuned into BBC Breakfast many were taken aback to see two women presenting the programme.
Several others questioned the dress code and were convinced Victoria was dressed too casual.
Many are used to seeing the men dressed in a suit and tie while the women often wear a dress or a smart shirt.
However, this wasn’t the case for Victoria who sported a black top with cutouts on the shoulders with black slim-fitting trousers.
As for Rachel, she wore an emerald green silk blouse with a dark floral skirt.
Taking to Twitter an unimpressed @Outlookin1 questioned Victoria’s outfit and questioned: “Distracted by presenter clothing. Is she wearing jeans? Just looks odd and out of keeping with other presenter?” (sic)
An angered @GalacTR0N wrote: “All female @BBCBreakfast presenters should have to wear a shirt and tie like the men.”
Whereas @WASPCommander remarked: “Victoria Fritz seems to have popped in to present #BBCBreakfast on her way back from the ball.”
Despite the backlash, others loved the outfits and took to social media to compliment the presenters.
@AndyJ31636096 tweeted: “Looking fantastic Victoria on BBC News this morning if you don’t mind me saying.”
@SianMariePorts added: “@BBCBreakfast Love your female presenters this morning, they look great!”
Back in July, BBC announced a number of new presenters who would be hosting the show, which came after Dan Walker confirmed his exit earlier in the year.
The national broadcaster revealed Jon Kay would become a regular presenter on BBC Breakfast from Monday to Wednesday.
While Victoria Derbyshire returned to screens as the new BBC Newsnight lead presenter alongside Kirsty Wark.
Dann, who had been regular on the red sofa for six years, left to become a news anchor on Channel 5 and host other programmes on the channel.
He appeared alongside other BBC Breakfast regulars including Naga Munchetty, Sally Nugent, Charlie Stayt and sports presenter Mike Bushnell.
As one of the most prolific BBC presenters, Naga usually keeps her private life hidden but recently she gave viewers a glimpse into her life away from screens.
She had reposted a tweet shared by Katherine, who left her job at the BBC in 2021 after 14 years, that was captioned: “Sometimes you need a treat of a night out with a good friend.
“Delicious food, excellent cocktails and top drawer gossip with @TVNaga01 @HawksmoorMCR.”
Writing to her 277,800 followers, Naga added: “Sometimes… I just need @KDownesSport to put the world to rights.”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
