BBC Breakfasts Nina Warhurst defends Stormzy as co-host questions rogue outfit

BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst was all for backing Stormzy after her co-host Jon Kay questioned his interesting choice of footwear.

The rapper appeared on Wednesday's instalment of the morning show to chat to Jon and Sally Nugent about his new album, but before it even began, Sally couldn't resist asking about his socks and crocs combination.

As the presenter recalled the 29-year-old wore slippers the last time he appeared on the red sofa, Stormzy admitted that was an accident but confessed this time wasn't.

"This time was intentional because I have to be comfortable," he explained before Sally chimed: "Oh I love that! I wish we could swap."

Afterwards, the presenter took to his Twitter to ask his followers what their opinion was on the combination.

Sharing a snap of the 29-year-old's white socks and black crocs, he penned: "Stormzy in Crocs AND SOCKS…. Thoughts?? #BBCBreakfast."

Nina, 42, jumped straight to the Power hitmaker's defence as she shared a photo of her own feet while wearing stripy socks and sliders.

Alongside the snap, the news anchor penned: "It’s actually all about the sliders & thermal long socks this autumn-winter JK."

And it seems Jon agreed with his co-star as he responded with a socks and crocks combo on himself.

Nina also reposted her co-host's tweet, which was a snap of Stormzy on the show and a close up of his shoes, writing: "We are kindred spirits."

Earlier this month, the BBC Breakfast star was forced to hit back after a social media user compared her outfit to a "Christmas pudding."

After spotting the cruel message, Nina didn't hesitate to call him out on his behaviour.

The viewer wrote: "Dear @BBCBreakfast why have you got @NinaWarhurst dressed as a Christmas pudding today, please keep her away from naked flames as those shiny clothes look highly flammable!"

Nina replied: "Wondering if Simon approaches people IRL to make unkind comments about their appearance. I'm guessing not. "

Adding a yawning face emoji she concluded: "Thanks though Simon. This level of feedback is always useful and taken very seriously."
