A BBC News reader has gone viral after she was seen flipping her middle finger to the camera, seemingly unaware she was already live on air.
Maryam Moshiri was seen in the clip, which is now circulating on social media, raising her eyebrows and flipping off the camera as she comes on-screen after the famous musical countdown ends. The 46-year-old mum-of-three, who is one of the broadcaster's chief presenters, seemed unaware the cameras were already rolling.
However, she quickly realised she was live-on-air and snatched her hand away before starting to read the latest headlines about former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Switching it up to a very serious tone, she said: "Live from London, this is BBC News."

But she seemed to talk nervously towards the end of the headline, perhaps mortified by her error as she mistakenly pronounced coronavirus as the "coronaverse" pandemic.
The faux pas reportedly happened on the world feed of BBC News at 12pm on Wednesday (December 6). The channel in the UK was showing Prime Minister's Questions, so headlines were delivered from studios in London.
Viewers have since been left divided of the clip as they shared their reactions online. Some have suggested that the incident showed a lack of professionalism while others joked that they felt the same about their work.
One user quipped: "When my job asks me to stay late." Another argued: "Presenter Maryam Moshiri – summing up BBC professionalism and integrity in action. This is what you pay your licence fee for…"
A third joked: "Looks like someone had to make it to work without their morning coffee." Meanwhile, a fourth said: "That’s hilarious! She immediately regretted that decision."
However, this isn't the first time a BBC presenter has gone viral for mistakenly swearing on air. The broadcaster was previously forced to apologise after weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker made the same rude gesture. Tomasz and former news presenter Simon McCoy often delighted viewers with their on-screen chatter.

However, a moment between the two went viral in 2010, after Tomasz jokingly raised his middle finger to the presenter before a weather segment. Simon had joked with viewers that the weather bulletin would be "100% accurate", before Tomasz cheekily raised his middle finger off-camera at the presenter.
He did not realise that the camera had panned to him however, and Tomasz quickly had to grab his chin before the camera moved away from him again. Simon then told viewers: "Every now and again there's always a mistake and that was it." He later apologised for any offence caused to viewers but the video still cirulates online to this day.
