BBC viewers were overjoyed to see their favourite TV puppets reunite for a special music video on Children in Need – including Gordon the Gopher and Basil Brush.
Children in Need returned to BBC One on Friday night (November 19), and it took place at MediaCity in Salford for the first time ever.
The children's charity show was also able to host a live audience again after having to ditch it last year due to the pandemic.
The annual fundraiser saw a star-studded line-up entertain the nation as it celebrated over 40 years on our screens.
The likes of Graham Norton, Danny Dyer, Chris Ramsey, Amanda Holden and Alison Hammond were on the show, with a live performance from Ed Sheeran.
For many fans though, it seemed like the puppets stole the show, as a huge ensemble of TV puppets came together to record a rendition of Starship's 1987 hit, Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now.
The nostalgic segment, called Puppet Aid, opened with This Morning host Phillip Schofield joining Gordon in a black cab, pleading to be featured on Gordon's song.
However, Phil was sorely rejected by Gordon, who was donned in his trademark leather jacket.
The furry friends then entered the studio for a classic charity music video, with oversized mics and chunky headphones.
The massive puppet cast included Basil Brush, Muffin the Mule, Rainbow’s Zippy, George and Bungle, Scott and Virgil from Thunderbirds’, Zig and Zag, and Edd the Duck.
Also in the video was Mr Blobby, Otis the Aardvark, Oucho, Stanley, Dodge and Hacker T Dog, Channel 5’s Milkshake Monkey, Mongrel’s Marion and Nelson, and Buffering’s Larry the Lizard.
BBC viewers were indulging themselves in the nostalgia fest online, with many getting excited on Twitter.
One fan wrote: "This was absolutely brilliant! The highlights had to be Gordon & Ed… with a special mention for Bungle."
A second said: "best bit of Children in Need and seeing Ed the Duck and Gordon the Gopher"
A third penned: "LOVED this!!! Well this is a real star studded Children in Need .. Gordon looking very cool in his leather jacket"
A fourth agreed: "Gordon the gopher is BACK baby"
A fifth added: "Never thought I’d see on tv Gordon the gopher, Otis the Aardvark, Ed the duck, Basil brush, Mr Blobby and Zig and Zag all together. Great childhood memories"
Gordon first appeared on Children in Need between 1985 and 1987, and he starred alongside Phillip on The Broom Cupboard.
Gordon's main puppeteer was Paul Smith, and his leather jacket was a gift from Adam Ant.
The puppet previously appeared on an episode of Celebrity Juice in 2013, and he also returned to the screens for CBBC in 2015.
