Janet Street-Porter has hit out at David and Victoria Beckham for the "manicured" portrayal of their lives in their new Netflix documentary.
Street-Porter, 76, was appearing on Loose Women on Tuesday (October 24), when she made the remarks on the celebrity couple's new show. The new series, entitled Beckham, gives an insight into how David's footballing career took off in the 1990s from his time in Manchester United to LA Galaxy.
Despite labelling itself as a sports documentary, the series also delves into the pair's relationship and Victoria's own stardom as part of the Spice Girls. The show also chronicles how the pair first met back in 1997 and how the pair have stayed together since.

Speaking on the ITV show, former columnist Janet admitted that she does appreciate the sports aspect of the programme. "I love watching documentaries about brilliant sportsmen and women," she said whilst joined by fellow panellists Ruth Langsford, Kelle Bryant and Coleen Nolan.
"I would find that aspect of it fascinating, but what I'm not interested in is a PR, very manicured portrait of their marriage and their relationship," she said. "At the end of the day, the press only give us one view of the Beckhams – but the Beckhams only give us what they want us to see."
Janet continued to lay in on the pair, adding that the side they choose to show the world is "very tightly controlled because ultimately it's all about brand protection and maximising their income". The in-studio audience listening to the debate agreed with her and clapped in agreement.
The Beckhams doc has been produced by the couple's production company, but got into hot water for covering the alleged affair David had with former assistant Rebecca Loos, whilst the footballing legend, 48, was in Spain playing for Real Madrid. The company insists the pair invited them to ask about anything which is in part why the topic was covered.
But despite David and Victoria's assertions it did not take place, producers came under fire for failing to give a right of response to Rebecca herself, who became a household name when she broke the story in 2004. David continues to vehemently deny the allegations, branding them "ludicrous".
Giving her thoughts on the documentary, Loos said that she refuted the idea that she was "playing the victim" .Rebecca also accused the pair of deliberately misleading the public and opting to bring the scandal back in an attempt to "affect [her] reputation".
