Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) was left feeling utterly embarrassed during tonight’s Coronation Street, as Bernie Winters (Jane Hazlegrove) thought he was offering her a job on well, sexual terms.

Money was the topic on Bernie’s mind throughout the episode, as she was unable to get extra shifts at the kebab shop and couldn’t buy Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash) a present for their birthday.

Missing the main meal at the bistro, Bernie arrived late and happily tucked into some cake.

On their own, Gemma wondered if Bernie was short on cash and reassured her that Joseph’s (William Flanagan) new school uniform for September won’t be an issue as Linda, his other gran, has already paid for it.

Unable to get some work at the pub, Bernie was disappointed – and then Dev arrived.

Helping out his friend, Dev offered Bernie a job – but he went about it in a terrible way.

Concerned Bernie might feel offended by the offer of a cleaner role, Dev told her they should talk in ‘private’ about some ‘personal service’.

Misinterpreting things, Bernie punched Dev in the face, thinking he was asking her to have sex with him for money!

Fortunately, Bernie accepted the job offer of a cleaner and was thrilled, thankful Dev had come to her rescue.
