Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons) endeared himself to Big Bang Theory fans from the off thanks to his quirky manner and hilarious friendship with roommate Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki). However, when Penny (Kaley Cuoco) moved into the apartment opposite in the very first season, Sheldon soon found himself welcoming a new friend into his life. While this was a huge change to Sheldon’s way of life, it was exacerbated even further when she found herself crashing on their couch in the seventh episode of the CBS sitcom.
Titled ‘The Dumpling Paradox’, Penny, Leonard and Sheldon had become good friends by the seventh instalment following her introduction in the series pilot.
Therefore, when her friend Christy (Brooke D’Orsay) came into town and Penny needed a break, she had no problem turning to the pair.
A rather unwelcome arrival in LA, Christy quickly irked Penny by luring Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) away from ‘Halo Night’ and hooking up with him in her apartment, showing no regard for her friend.
Desperate to get away from Christy and Howard’s newfound romance, Leonard and Sheldon agreed to let her sleep on their couch, albeit with a lot of convincing on Leonard’s part.

The next morning, however, Sheldon was left less than impressed that Penny’s presence in the apartment caused disruption to his regular routine.
Armed with a bowl of cereal, Sheldon wanted to sit in his regular spot on the couch and watch Doctor Who.
However, he, of course, couldn’t as Penny laid asleep in his spot.
He vented his frustrations to Leonard, saying: “Every Saturday since we’ve lived in this apartment,
“I have awakened 6:15am, poured a bowl of cereal, added a quarter cup of milk,
“(And) sat on this end of this couch, turned on BBC America and watched Doctor Who.”
Leonard protested that Penny should be left asleep and Sheldon should eat breakfast in bed.
Less than pleased with the compromise, Sheldon continued to argue his point, resulting in Penny waking up.
Moments later, Howard waltzed into the apartment adorned in one of Penny’s dressing gown, only adding to her frustrations.
However, upon a rewatch of the episode, one fan has pointed out there’s no way Doctor Who could’ve been on the TV, or that the morning in question would have even been on a Saturday.
On online forum MovieMistakes, the fan explains: “Sheldon has a rigid schedule. Halo Night is known to be on Wednesday night.
“Penny sleeps on the couch in Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment.

“The following morning, Sheldon cannot watch Doctor Who on BBC America because Penny is sleeping on his spot on the couch.
“He states that he has been watching Doctor Who every Saturday at 6:15 a.m.
“The following morning should be Thursday,” they point out.
Considering Christy dragged Howard away from ‘Halo Night’, it looks like the fan is correct in their critique and thus, a plot hole exists.
The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix UK now.
