Ahead of entering the I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, Boy George has said that the show is "less aggressive" than it used to be, describing the 2004 series that Katie Price appeared in as "hostile".
The 61 year old Karma Chameleon singer said that the ITV show has changed over the years, as he also revealed that it was I'm A Celeb's presenters Ant and Dec who convinced him to take part.
George implied that he wouldn't have done the show in the past when there seemed to be more drama, with plenty of shouting matches going on as the conditions and lack of food got to the celebs.
He explained: "I've always watched this show. It's not as as aggressive as it used to be.
"You know, if you go back to like, you know, when say Johnny Rotten was on it, or Katie Price that was really hostile. And that's not something I would have enjoyed.
"I mean, I don't mind that argument or a debate and I'm excited about who might be in there and what might come up and, you know, I try to be an intelligent person.
He went on to discuss the characteristics of his star sign, Gemini, and how his buddhism affects his outlook on life.
"I have to look at everyone as if they do have a buddha light that they forgot to turn on sometimes when they are not being nice," he said.
George, whose full name is George Alan O'Dowd, also revealed that he had been asked to appear on I'm A Celeb "a couple of times", but as he appeared on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, the Geordie duo "encouraged" him to do it.
The clincher was that Boy George had explained to them that he would do the show "if you did like a vegan or vegetarian one", and to his surprise, Ant and Dec said that they could, leaving him saying "oh s**t".
Although he will get veggie meals, an ITV boss has insisted that they will actually be "more stinky and more gross" than some of the meat products on the show.
Asked about being crowned king and winning I'm A Celebrity by the Mirror, George said: "Queen darling! It is about bloody time isn't it, we are so fashionable now, the gays.
"Listen, I don't think you should go on a show like this if you don't want to do your best. I mean, it's the same as walking on stage. I don't ever walk on stage and think I will give a half level performance, you know. And I feel like I've been paid well for it so I'm going to be a Boy Georgey as I can."
George is said to be pocketing a staggering £500,000 for his appearance on I'm A Celebrity.
I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! begins on Sunday 6 November on ITV at 9pm.
