Ben Miller, who played Lord Archibald Featherington in the record-breaking period drama Bridgerton, teased Steph’s Packed Lunch viewers that his character could return to the Netflix series. Steph McGovern said the actor’s Bridgerton character was “amazing”, and couldn’t resist asking if fans will get to see him again.
Since fans finished season one of the hit show, they have been speculating about which characters will make a comeback for season two.
Appearing on Wednesday’s episode of Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, actor Ben told Steph: “[Bridgerton] is only one of the most-watched television shows in the history of [television].”
Steph told the star she thought Lord Featherington was an “amazing character” when he appeared in the first series of Bridgerton.
The Death in Paradise actor couldn’t help but agree with the host.
Ben, 55, explained: “I had an amazing character, [but he was] a bit of a slow-burner.
“He’s what I would call the unidentified patient. In a family, you get all these people who seem to be crazy, and you gradually work out that it’s [always] the quiet one.”
Steph interjected and quipped: “I knew you were dodgy from the beginning.
“Are you gutted though because you’re not in the next one?”
He replied: “I know, but I will say this… I was in Death in Paradise, and I am pretty sure I got murdered on Death in Paradise.
“I am pretty sure I died, but I still managed to come back essentially as a ghost.
“I think that is a very unexplored side to the Bridgerton story you know.”
Steph asked if he might back a return in the form of appearing in flashbacks.
He laughed: “Yes, a flashback – would it be so hard?”
Could Ben have just dropped a huge spoiler that Lord Feathrington will return to the fray once again?
The actor starred as Lord Archibald Featheringinton, the patriarch of the Featherthington family.
He played the father of Prudence (played by Bessie Carter), Philipa (Harriet Cains) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and the wife of Portia Featherington (Polly Walker).
Midway through the series, viewers discovered Lord Featherington was a frequent gambler and was in huge amounts of debt.
He attended the first fight of Will Mondrich (Martins Imhangbe) but decided to place a bet on his rival which he later lost when Will won the fight.
Afterwards, he was seen being hounded by men who wanted their money and he was given a 48-hour deadline to raise the money he owed them.
Lord Featherington then sabotaged his daughter Philipa’s relationship with Albion Finch (Lorn MacDonald) after he had lost the family’s money and given away his daughters’ dowries.
When confronted, Lord Featherington broke down in tears, confessing he had failed his wife and children.
Steph’s Packed Lunch airs on 12.30pm on Channel 4 weekdays.
