There’s a new paramedic on Casualty tonight – but we have seen her face before. It’s Fenisha (Olivia D’Lima), the woman that Ethan (George Rainsford) met at the vending machine and then later on at the pub a few weeks ago. Fenisha as a paramedic proves to be spirited, enthusiastic and brave, and instantly gets deeply involved with a case and has to deal with the frustrations of coping with the limited resources of the NHS.
‘You never forget your first shout,’ Lev (Uriel Emil) tells her, but it’s her second shout that’s the most memorable as they’re called to a stabbing that turns out, in the grand Casualty tradition, to be a much more complicated case than it looks. At the hospital Fenisha meets Will Noble (Jack Nolan) and it’s fair to say that there’s an instant attraction between them – which is somewhat awkward, as Ethan is also on duty in the ED and he’s wondering why Fenisha hasn’t been in touch recently.
Rash (Neet Mohan), meanwhile, finds himself a long way out of his comfort zone when he’s asked to stand in for the recently departed Archie by giving a talk at a conference. Connie (Amanda Mealing) has some words of support, but how will Rash cope when the questions start getting tricky? Back in the ED he butts heads with a relative of a patient who is also a doctor – and who has very strong opinions about the level of care Rash is providing. With his confidence being undermined from all sides, Rash has to learn to rely on his own judgement.
Jacob (Charles Venn) is worried about Charlie (Derek Thompson), who has been in a world of his own since Duffy’s death. He’s avoiding patients, being manipulated by younger staff members – yes, Marty (Shaheen Jafargholi), I mean you – and generally not his usual self at all. When Charlie leaves Jade (Gabriella Leon) to struggle with a task, Jacob realises he needs to take action.
