The T’Pau singer made the quip while serving up the first dish of the new series.
After seeing ex-rugby player Martin Bayfield's curry, Carol said: "I would eat that, that's girly food.
"I've cooked man food and you've cooked girl food."
Fans of the show ranted on social media: "Someone wanna explain to me what “girl food” and “man food” is? ? #MasterChef #GetAGrip."
Another added: "HOW DARE THEY SAY BEEF CHILLI IS MAN FOOD, REEEE I AM OFFENDED."
Someone else said: "Girl food and man food?! #masterchef."
But Martin didn't take the comment to heart.
Instead he joked: "Should we swap?"
Carol added: "Yeah, I'll come round to your house!"
John Torode and Greg Wallace kick started the new series of Celebrity Masterchef tonight following last year's win by Angelica Bell.
Towie favourite Gemma Collins, TV presenter Michelle Ackerley and Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge will join the line-up.
