Pointless presenter Alexander Armstrong is taking a trip around Iceland for a brand new documentary series on Channel 5. Exploring everything from its volcanoes to popular nightlife spots, viewers flooded to Twitter when the host visited one of the world’s most explicit museums.

Channel 5 audiences were shocked by Alexander Armstrong’s trip to Iceland’s penis museum in his latest documentary series.

The TV presenter and comedian visited a number of the country’s hot spots in the first episode of his new show.

In the third segment of episode one, Armstrong took a tour around the Icelandic Phallological Museum in Reykjavík.

Claiming to be the world’s only museum dedicated to the penis, it boasts over two hundred and fifteen samples collected from various sea and land animals.

Armstrong was especially astounded when manager Thor introduced him to a particularly intimidating piece that used to belong to a whale.

He was even more shocked when the manager revealed the preserved organ was only a third of its original size.

Thor also recounted the museum’s amusing history as Armstrong strolled around the impressive collection.

“It began as a joke actually,” he revealed. “Iceland used to be pretty big on whaling, and the penis of the whale was something that wasn’t used.”

“Associates and friends of our founder started giving him penises from the whaling station.”

What started out as a harmless prank has now evolved into the world’s largest collection of preserved phalluses.

“He thought these were too good to waste!” Armstrong joked.

As the Pointless presenter showcased Reykjavík’s most explicit tourist attraction on Channel 5, viewers expressed their disdain on Twitter.

User Jo-Shreeve posted: “Now I’m watching the penis museum on 5. It’s time to go to bed.”

While Chris said: “Not sure the penis museum will be on my list of places to visit in Iceland in December.”

And a third viewer named Craig wrote: “Elves and a penis museum. Iceland is a great country.”

During his visit, Armstrong also met up with a woman named Raggar who claimed she could see elves.

However, not everyone was quite so put off by the strange content as other viewers were more encouraged to visit Iceland than ever.

James Ellis said: “Really enjoyed the first episode of Iceland. Informative and amusing. Well done!”

Alexander Armstrong will hopefully be visiting some more family-friendly attractions when his travels continue next week.

Iceland with Alexander Armstrong continues Wednesdays on Channel 5.
