The hosts for BBC Breakfast can change at the weekends, but usually, viewers will see the familiar faces of Naga Munchetty, Charlie Stayt, Jon Kay and Rachel Burden, who regularly present the weekend programmes. However, on Sunday, none of the regular team were seen on screen as two other reporters took reins of the programme.

On Sunday, the BBC news show welcomed back presenter Victoria Fritz, who up until now had been on maternity leave.

Ahead of the programme, Victoria took to Twitter to let her followers know that she would be back.

Sharing a mirror selfie, she penned: “Woah. Just realised this is the first time in 15 months I’ve looked in a full length mirror. Not too shabby actually, Fritz.

“A baby & a knee reconstruction over that time. And never more than 30 ft away from a packet of biscuits.”

She later tweeted: “What I meant to tweet is that the mirror = a joyous return to the north.

“For a sighting rarer than a bobtail squid, flick on @BBCOne tomoro am & witness a cheeky Sunday saunter onto the @BBCBreakfast sofa.” (sic)

Viewers were thrilled to see Victoria back presenting the programme, with many taking to social media to share their delight.

One tweeted: “Morning Victoria, lovely to see you as a main presenter.”

Another commented: “Good morning Victoria, absolutely brilliant seeing you back presenting @BBCBreakfast.”

A third added: “Can you let Victoria know that I am wishing her a good morning and how I am really happy to see her.”

“Ooh…Victoria Fritz on,” a fourth said.
