With just a few days left in camp, everything is to play for as the remaining campmates battle it out for a place in Sunday’s final where someone will be crowned the new King or Queen of the jungle. Having just missed out on a place in the final, the radio presenter has looked back on his time in the jungle, how it felt to be eliminated and some jungle secrets that never made it to air.
In an exit interview on Radio X, where he normally hosts the breakfast show, Moyles said: “It was such a weird crazy brilliant experience, but I’m happy to be out.”
Reflecting on his time in the camp, he said: “Good day, bad day, good day, bad day is pretty much what I experienced.”
As the presenter shared the ups and downs of camp life, he admitted he wasn’t ready to go just yet.
He hoped he could make it to the final, but admitted “the moment I said it out loud I thought, I’m going to go”.
The Radio DJ revealed one particular habit that seemed to have caught on quite quickly in the camp.
Moyles said: “Everybody in camp has become some kind of Jason Bourne kleptomaniac.
“So when you go to do a trial or challenge you have to leave camp. And then the challenges are in different places, so we all made it a mission to steal whatever we possibly could to try and get back.”
Laughing about his jungle escapades, Moyles admitted to fellow radio presenter Toby Tarrant that items such as chalk, a pen and even a list of health and safety guidelines were some of supplies swiped by the thieving celebs.
But there was one treasure Moyles was particularly proud to have pocketed.
He confessed: “I managed to steal two and a half packets of biscuits” during his trial with actor Owen Warner.
Speaking about his latest Bushtucker trial Savage Sorting Office, he continued: “I did the entire task with a crane getting electrocuted but hanging on to the biscuits at all costs.”
He said he broke the biscuits up and tried to hide them in the dunny for people to eat – but they were quickly confiscated by bosses.
Moyles also told how he “hacked the wifi” when in isolation preparing to go into the jungle – just so he could watch his beloved Leeds United.
Once in Australia the contestants were in isolation for a week with no access to friends and family with wifi only allowed for streaming things like Netflix.
But asked about a Liverpool v Leeds game, Moyles grinned: “I managed to watch the game.”
He explained: “From the moment you enter the airport, you’re in isolation. They take your phone and iPad off you and the house has 24 hour security.”
But that didn’t stop the Radio Presenter hacking the wifi and getting himself a Australian sports subscription to watch the Premier League and Sunday’s Grand Prix.
He may not have made it Sunday’s final but Moyles felt he was ready to leave: “I’m delighted to have got through it, delighted to be out.
“I haven’t slept in a real bed in three weeks, I haven’t seen anyone that’s not in camouflage clothing.”
Chris was the sixth member to leave camp, following comedian Babatunde Aleshe, musician Boy George, actress Sue Cleaver, TV presenter Scarlette Douglas and broadcaster Charlene White.
Chris would like to see Owen or Lioness Jill Scott take the jungle crown, but would also like to see Mike Tindall in the final.
