Chris Pine goes full Braveheart for The Outlaw King's first trailer

Chris Pine has gone time-travelling again, this time for Netflix’s upcoming movie The Outlaw King and its very muddy first trailer.

The lovechild of Braveheart and Game of Thrones, The Outlaw King tells the “untold, true story” of Robert the Bruce, who transformed from defeated nobleman to reluctant King and outlaw hero.

Pine gets down and dirty as Robert the Bruce as he leads a small but determined army to fight against the English occupation of Scotland, led by the ferocious King Edward I.

He’s not done a bad job of the Scottish accent, either.

While Chris Pine has very much embraced his latest role, it seems the actor isn’t as keen on the final frontier as he is on medieval Scotland.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the actor – who played Captain James T Kirk in the rebooted, alternate reality Star Trek series – had pulled out of the upcoming Star Trek 4.

Along with his onscreen, long-dead father George Kirk, played by Chris Hemsworth, Pine decided that he didn’t fancy boldly going any further.

It’s been reported both superhero Chrises walked away from negotiations to star in the JJ Abrams-produced sequel, after the studio allegedly tried to force them to take pay cuts.

The Outlaw King will premiere on Netflix and in “selected cinemas” on November 9.
