Close To Me premieres on Channel 4 tonight (November 7) and the nailbiting TV series is based on a book of the same name. The show follows a mother who, after falling down the stairs, cannot remember anything that happened over the past year. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about who is in the cast of Close To Me.
Who is in Close To Me?
Jo Harding – Connie Nielsen
Jo is a Danish mother of two who works as a translator and she has a seemingly perfect life.
She suffers a fall at the start of the series and must try and remember what happened over the previous 12 months.
The character is played by Connie Nielsen, who was excited for the series to inspire older women to “feel seen”.
Nielsen is a 56-year-old Danish actress who is best known for playing Hippolyta in Wonder Woman.
The actress stressed the importance of highlighting the impact of menopause on TV, which is one of the main themes in her new series.
Rob Harding – Christopher Eccleston
Rob is Jo’s husband in the series and although he loves his wife, he is reluctant for her to remember the past.
The estate agent has realised his most important role in life is helping his wife through menopause.
He is played by Christopher Eccleston, best known for playing the ninth Doctor in Doctor Who.
The 57-year-old said his latest project reverses how men and women are portrayed in TV dramas.
He said: “This show had a lovely reversal of the usual, far too familiar, sensitive, caring female taking a supportive role to a male as they wrestle with existential dilemmas. This was very refreshing.”
Finn Harding – Tom Taylor
Finn is Jo and Rob’s son in the series and the only thing Jo can remember is Finn leaving for university.
Finn is played by Tom Taylor, a 20-year-old actor who has previously starred in Doctor Foster and Us.
Sash Harding – Rosy McEwan
Sash is Jo and Rob’s grown-up daughter in the thriller and she is played by Rosy McEwan.
Rosy is relatively new to the world of acting but has worked on both stage and screen.
She played Libby Hatch in The Alienist.
Cathy – Susan Lynch
Cathy is Jo’s best friend who was in the middle of a dispute with Jo just before she fell.
Will they be willing to reconcile so Cathy can help her friend figure out what happened?
She is played by Susan Lynch, who has previously starred in Nicola Walker’s Unforgotten.
Her other credits include Killing Eve, Ready Player One and Bloodlands.
Anna – Leanne Best
Anna is Jo’s co-worker and she is played by Leanne Best, known for playing the title character in The Woman in Black: Angel of Death.
She is also the niece of former Beatle, Pete Best.
The 42-year-old’s other credits include Young Wallander, Cold Feet and Line of Duty.
Other stars in the series include Henning Jensen, Ellie Haddington, Ray Fearon, Jamie Flatters, and Lorraine Burroughs.
The series draws inspiration from Amanda Reynolds’ novel and it promises to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
Close To Me airs on Channel 4 on Sunday, November 7 at 9pm.
