Comedian Laura Smyth pulls burger prank on fans – leaving them gobsmacked | The Sun

LAURA Smyth left burger fans stunned when she pulled a "gourmet meal" prank on them.

The comedian set up a taster session with unsuspecting members of the public, insisting they were trying two options from a new premium fusion brand.

But the two Smoky Chimichurri burgers, either chicken or beef, were in fact from Burger King.

Laura pushed for thoughts on the burgers, with the group truly believing they were from an independent gourmet restaurant.

The panel praised the "fresh" ingredients from the rocket to the toasted brioche bun, calling out the herbs and spices of the "flavoursome" chimichurri and the combinations that elevated them to high-end restaurant level.

One participant even declared the chicken burger the best he’d ever had.

The amusing set up followed research which found 49 per cent of Brits don’t think you can get a gourmet burger from a fast-food restaurant.

A study of 2,000 adults revealed 61 per cent don’t think it’s possible to experience a decadent meal out if you’re on a budget.

And 72 per cent believe you have to be willing to pay a high price to enjoy a quality gourmet spread.
