Coronation Street favourite Roy Cropper discovers his brother Richard dead at his flat in emotional scenes in a couple of weeks time.
The character only learned he had a secret sibling weeks ago, before being told his brother had a terminal illness.
Richard, who has pulmonary fibrosis, has a carer with his daughter Nina also looking after him.
Roy has been keen to kelp out since finding out he existed, but next week he is forced to leave him alone in the flat after an incident at the café.
When Richard's new carer fails to show up, he suffers a fall at the flat with no one there to help him.
When his sibling calls him up to check on him, Richard lies that he is fine.
But when Roy does make it back to the flat, he is horrified to find his brother slumped on the floor.
He calls an ambulance but the paramedics fail to revive him and he's pronounced dead.
Tragically, Nina walks through the door just as his death is confirmed leaving her distraught.
A shocked Roy feels guilty for leaving him, and begs niece Nina to move in with him.
However, once she learns that Roy wasn't with Richard when he fell she storms out.
Carla Connor accidentally lets slip about Roy being at the café, with Nina refusing to forgive him.
She barricades herself back at the flat, leading to Roy sitting outside the front door attempting to get her to talk to him.
But can he get through to her, and will she forgive him?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
