Coronation Street fans have predicted an unexpected romance for Ryan Connor (played by Ryan Prescott) following his harrowing acid attack storyline.
The fan-favourite character became a hero when he jumped in front of Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) to save her from being permanently burned and scarred on her wedding day.
Villain and stalker Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still) had been building up to the moment for weeks, and was determined to make sure Daisy knew that if he couldn't have her no one could, but Ryan stopped the plan in its tracks.
In the aftermath of the horrific attack, Ryan has struggled to move on from the trauma and will remain in hospital for a while as doctors continue to work on his injuries.
But despite refusing to let anyone see him and his new facial disfigurement, Ryan's main source of support came from Daisy in the most recent instalment.
Overcome with guilt following the incident, and blaming herself, Daisy sat with her protector by his hospital bed.
And despite the fact Daisy was planning to marry Daniel before the acid attack, fans are now convinced her and Ryan's bond is only going to grow.
"Daisy & Daniel sorry it’s a no go there! Right from the start it’s been a shambles, Not meant to be," one viewer tweeted.
"As for Daisy & Ryan they will help each other through this …. Fall in love again!" another person speculated.
"I think a relationship is going to occur," another guessed, as a fellow Corrie lover wrote: "I sense Daisy will have a lot of guilt with this. A lot. I also hope it brings them closer.
"Daisy is deserving of a man who treats her kindly and with respect. No disrespect to the character of Daniel, but he has not been the kindest/most charming/supportive to Daisy during their romance."
Ryan Connor actor Ryan has hinted that his character will face a lot of denial as he struggles to move forward from the attack.
He recently told Metro that his character is fearing that his life will "never be the same again," and is trying to "reach out and clutch onto whatever he can within his life that will allow him to deny the reality".
It comes as Coronation Street has been hit by at least 72 Ofcom complaints over the graphic and scary nature of the acid attack episode.
Many fans complained that the scenes shouldn't have been aired pre watershed. OK! contacted representatives for Coronation Street and ITV for comment.
