Coronation Street fans may have hit the theory jackpot after speculations over Maria Windass’ stalker’s identity.
The councillor has been receiving abuse for trying to improve Weatherfield and has been prioritising environmental issues as part of her ethos.
She recently made changes to the recycling bin collections after she decided the town needed to focus more on recycling and green issues.

Despite her good intentions, she received backlash after the recycling bin collectors went on strike due to the heavy workload.
Maria attempted to fix the situation, but a video of the do-gooder circulated online.
The clip showed her words rearranged and placed over a beat, only to find out later that another more shocking video had been sent around.
The deep fake clip showed Maria’s head edited onto a naked woman’s body within a pornographic setting.
Maria has been trying to keep a low profile but things took a sinister turn when she found a tracking device in her bag after she had attended a council meeting.
She read a notification on her phone which told her a “third party device” was on her person and actively tracking her location, which left her startled and vulnerable.
She had also previously been shaken up by a man who claimed to be working for environmental health, but instead commented on the deep fake video.
George took her to the cafe and the tracker was discovered while Nina told her that these devices are mainly used for finding missing objects.
However, the police still didn’t help Maria as these kind of devices are not illegal, which has left her feeling afraid.
She even rang up the school and told them her son would not be attending the next day due to a stomach bug, but moments later he walked through the door with Kelly and Gary, carrying pizzas.
Fans seem to think that Kelly could be behind all this, as she “knows Gary and Maria have something to to with her dad’s death”, so she could be acting as “payback”.
One viewer tweeted: “I reckon it could be Kelly – why was she so desperate to go to the event with Maria when she didn’t have to?”
Another wrote: “Kelly is definitely stalking Maria.”
A speculative fan added: “Imagine if it’s Kelly behind all this because she secretly knows what Gary did to her dad and is angry at Maria for supporting him.”
