As Nicole Barber-Lane becomes Coronation Street's latest recruit with her character Ange walking the famous cobbles for the first time this week, viewers may be surprised to learn the identity of her former spouse in real life.
Nicole became a household name in Soapland back in 2005, joining the cast of Hollyoaks as Myra McQueen alongside her on-screen daughters Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe), Jacqui (Claire Cooper) and Carmel (Gemma Merna).
After departing Channel 4 in 2019 her appearances on the box have been few and far between, but now the actress is back – in a cameo role as Weatherfield's new cab firm owner.

The 53-year old recently teased her new role on ITV as she took to Instagram to declare: "Yes! Guess where I've been filming" followed by a camera emoji.
She added: "So if you guessed @coronationstreet you were right! Such a pleasure to do a little cameo…..look out for Ange in last week in September." Off screen, meanwhile, Nicole married Liam Fox in 1999, with whom she went on to have a child together.
ITV viewers will be familiar with the actor, who rose to fame on Emmerdale as Dan Spencer in 2011. Dan was initially cast for a run of just eight episodes, but after quickly impressing fans and bosses alike, was handed a permanent position.
After 16 years, however, Nicole and Liam decided to go their separate ways. In a joint statement at the time, they said: "It is with much sadness that we confirm the end of our marriage, though our family unit remains strong. "We'll always love and respect each other and are united by our children and family remaining at the centre of our lives."

A third added: "Sooo looking forward to this although I’m sad it’s a little cameo, you’d be great as a permanent resident!" And a fourth said:"Ahhh Nicole this is incredible! Can’t wait to meet Ange soon even if it is a guest role." Liam, meanwhile, went on to reunite with his former university girlfriend, Joanna, in 2017 before the pair married three years later.
