Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott has played down talk that his character Ryan Connor will enjoy a romance with Ali Neeson.
Some viewers believe that the show is setting up a romantic relationship between the two characters, based on the scenes they share together, but Prescott – who took over the role of Ryan in the spring – doesn’t want to get their hopes up.
“That’s fabricated,” he told OK! Online. “I don’t know who came up with that.
“There is a lot to play with within the relationship and the dynamics between both, but it’s definitely more of a sibling rivalry going on through to brotherly friendship, and it could go either way.
“They’ve both got room to get to know each other a lot more, and they’ve both got room to kind of get on each other’s nerves a lot more.
“I definitely don’t see [a romance between them].
“Just because there’s a lot of things with storylines that we do delve into and I think, two guys in their late 20s that have always been interested in girls, it would just be a little far-fetched if something happened between them, and it’s important as far as storylines go that we don’t clutch at ideas.”
This week, Ryan Connor has been seen attempting to blackmail Sarah Platt, demanding cash in exchange for his silence over the incident which put him in hospital.
However, Sarah decided that she won’t be bullied by Ryan and stood up to him.
