Evelyn Plummer already has Coronation Street viewers on high alert after rubbing some of the Weatherfield residents the wrong way.

However, after Wednesday’s episode, fans believe that the newcomer played by Maureen Lipman isn’t being truthful to her grandson Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) as well.

Evelyn, forced to move to Weatherfield having been kicked out of her home, upsets Tyrone when she tells him that she lost all photos of his mother in a house fire.

Some people at home have begun to throw theories around that she’s lying and holding a secret or two – especially given how cagey she appeared to be when Tyrone asked questions about his mum, who is believed to be dead.

“Evelyn very vague about that fire,” said one viewer.

One common theory is that Evelyn might not be Tyrone’s real grandmother.

“Are we actually sure that Evelyn is Tyrone’s real gran?!” a viewer posted on social media.

Last month, Lipman teased her character by calling Evelyn a “monster”.

“I am now a character in the Street and a pretty nasty one at that,” she added.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
