Coronation Street could be set for some upcoming explosive scenes as serial killer Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) has been seen fleeing the cobbles and making a desperate airport dash.

Stephen actor Todd Boyce was seen filming on location at an airport and getting into character, emerging from a taxi before making a beeline towards the ticket desk to make a purchase.

Stephen arrives at the airport looking stressed and without any luggage, suggesting that the trip is a last-minute plan.

Since his arrival last year, Stephen has killed Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost), Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) and Rufus Donahue (Steve Meo).

He has also managed to terrorise Carla Connor (Alison King) into thinking her psychosis had returned by spiking her drinks with LSD.

Stephen also nearly killed his fiance Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) which resulted in her fleeing the cobbles for her safety.

Filming photos also showed recently the moment that a car rooftop box was removed from the canal as shocked residents look on.

Viewers will remember that Stephen disposed of Teddy’s body using his mother’s rooftop box and was almost caught by Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) and Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).

Tim has also put himself in the firing line recently after he made a threat against Stephen and made it known that he was keeping a close eye on him, especially after his mother was hurt.

Could Tim be the final nail in the coffin that sends Stephen down for his crimes? He already told Stephen that he was keeping an eye on him.

Will Tim lure Stephen into being caught out for his crimes? Will Stephen be able to flee the country in time or is his freedom finally up?

Todd recently opened up about his character’s confusion and told The Mirror: “We are going to see him start taking risks as he gets more desperate.

“His life is starting to unravel and it is going to be interesting to see how he deals with the pressure. He is bound to start making mistakes and that could be his undoing.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
