Former Coronation Street star Wendi Peters has revealed her iconic soap bath scene "took two-and-a-half days" to film.

The Cilla Battersby-Brown actress appeared on Thursday's episode of Steph's Packed Lunch, where the classic scene was shown as part of her introduction.

Speaking with host Steph McGovern, Wendi then revealed the iconic scene – which saw Cilla and Les (Bruce Jones) fall through their ceiling after dog Schmeichel invaded their bath – took more than two days' of work to complete.

She also revealed that the scene featured an unexpected third person.

Of the scene, Wendi said: "It took two-and-a-half days.

"They actually built a new set with a hydraulic bath so it did actually go up and down.

"Of course the dog hated me, because all I did was drag it and scream at it it wouldn't jump in the bath."

So, I had to get out eventually and the dog trainer got in the bath in a swimsuit, which obviously, you never saw and as soon as she got in, the dog jumped straight in."

Of the unpleasant experience, she later added: "He did jump in with his paws and his claws.

"It was a cold jacuzzi bath."

During her appearance on the Channel 4 talk show, Wendi also opened up about playing the role of Cilla.

The actress joined Coronation Street as the iconic character in 2003, before later exiting the soap in 2014.

She said: "She was just such fun.

"Going in every day to do that and see what wardrobe had put out for me to wear [was amazing]."
